Pahalgam is also known as the Valley of Shepherds, the distance is approximately 90 km and 2.30 hours of journey from Srinagar. Along the way as you drive through Pampore known as a saffron town, make a stop there and explore the saffron cultivation, you can also purchase the saffron directly from farmers. Then continue your journey after a while you will drive through Avanti Pora over there, take a visit to the 9th century historical site of Hindus known as AvantiSwami Temple Ruins dedicated to Lord Shiva, spend some time there, then continue your journey to Pahalgam.
